Construction of the 500 kV Sarimay–Djankeldy Transmission Line and the Loop-In/Loop-Out Line Connecting the Bash WPP to the New 500 kV Navoi–Muruntau Open Switchyard Along a 28.55 km Section, Uzbekistan

Construction of the 500 kV Sarimay–Djankeldy Transmission Line and the Loop-In/Loop-Out Line Connecting the Bash WPP to the New 500 kV Navoi–Muruntau Open Switchyard Along a 28.55 km Section, Uzbekistan

General Project Information:

The project comprises the construction of the 500 kV single-circuit Sarimay–Djankeldy overhead transmission line between the Khorezm and Bukhara regions, as well as a loop-in/loop-out line connecting the new 500 kV Bash WPP open switchyard to the existing 500 kV Navoi–Muruntau transmission line. The project also includes the expansion of the Sarimay substation to the 500 kV voltage level.

The project is aimed at improving the reliability and stability of the national power system, enabling the evacuation of power generated by new wind power plants in the Bukhara Region, and supporting the integration of renewable energy sources into Uzbekistan’s national power grid.

Location:

Khorezm and Bukhara Regions, Uzbekistan

Scope of Work:

As part of the project, installation of insulators and line hardware, stringing and tensioning of 500 kV conductors, as well as installation of the overhead ground wire and Optical Ground Wire, were carried out in accordance with the approved project documentation.

Installation of Insulators and Line Hardware:

  • Preparation of the overhead line sections for installation works;
  •  Assembly and installation of insulator strings;
  • Installation of suspension and tension hardware;
  • Installation of connection hardware;
  • Securing conductors and ground wires to the 500 kV transmission line towers.

Installation of Conductors and Ground Wires:

  • Stringing and tensioning of 500 kV phase conductors;
  • Adjustment of conductor sag and alignment in accordance with the design;
  • Installation and tensioning of the overhead ground wire;
  • Installation and tensioning of the OPGW;
  • Final securing of conductors and ground wires in accordance with the project documentation.
