110 kV High-Voltage Power Transmission Line from Balkanabat to Hazar and “Goturdepe” Substation, Turkmenistan

General Project Information:

The project involves the development of high-voltage power grid infrastructure in the Balkan Region of Turkmenistan and the establishment of a reliable power transmission system connecting Balkanabat, Goturdepe, and Hazar.

The project includes the construction of a 110 kV double-circuit overhead transmission line from Balkanabat to Hazar, two 220/110 kV line bays in Balkanabat, the Goturdepe Substation equipped with 110 kV Gas-Insulated Switchgear (GIS) and two 31.5 MVA power transformers, as well as two 110 kV line bays in Hazar.

The project is aimed at improving the reliability of power supply and strengthening the energy infrastructure of the western region of Turkmenistan.

Location:

Balkanabat – Hazar, Turkmenistan

Scope of Work:

Procurement and supply of a complete package of equipment, materials, and components for the project facilities, including the 110 kV overhead transmission line, Goturdepe Substation, and 110 kV line bays.

Installation of High-Voltage Equipment:

  • Assembly and installation of 110 kV Gas-Insulated Switchgear.
  • Installation of power transformers.
  • Installation of GIS branch busbars and bushings.
  • Laying and connection of secondary cables.

Works on SF₆ Gas-Insulated Equipment:

  • Evacuation of the gas compartments of the GIS equipment.
  • Filling of the gas compartments with SF₆ gas.
  • Gas compartment leak testing.Measurement the moisture content in SF₆ gas.

Control, Protection, and Interlocking Systems:

  • Commissioning of control panels and interlocking systems.
  • Checking of control, signaling, and protection circuits.
  • Functional testing of operating mechanisms under AC and DC power supply.
  • Verification of the operation of control systems and interaction with the installed equipment.

Testing and Commissioning:

  • Commissioning of power transformers and high-voltage equipment.
  • Functional and comprehensive testing of the installed equipment.
  • Verification of equipment and system readiness for operation.
